About Us:

Our physical therapists take pride in offering the very best in orthopedic and manual therapy and never sacrifice quality for quantity. Bluegrass Physical Therapy has been an independently owned private practice since 1992 and has recently relocated from West Jefferson Place to Lane Allen Road. We accept Medicare, Humana, Anthem BCBS, and most other insurances. Our facility is equipped with specially adapted mechanical mobilization tables, therapeutic technology, and a wide variety of exercise equipment. We also encourage our patients to consider our facility in the maintenance of their own fitness and health outside of treatment! Please call for more information on our post-treatment services.

What We Offer:

  • McKenzie certified therapist for treatment of spine and extremities
  • ErgoScience FCEs, worksite assessments, and quantitative job analyses
  • Sport specific personal training, including our Play Better Golf with biomechanical swing analyses, Back in the Saddle Equestrian program, and all typical school sports
  • Post replacement treatment and post rehab transitional wellness programs
  • Multiple methods of manual therapy including but not limited to myofascial release, Maitland Rocabado, Canadian Manual Therapy, Mulligan NAGS and SNAGS, and joint mobilization

The McKenzie Method: Treatment of the Spine

The McKenzie Method, also known as Mechanical Diagnosis Therapy, begins with a thorough history and movement evaluation to effectively identify distinct patterns that are reproducible, objective, reliable, and reflect characteristics of the underlying pain generator.

The directional preference that centralizes and/or abolishes pain is our indicator for treatment. The faultiest assumption of the McKenzie Method is that it is only extension exercise of the neck, mid or lower back. In reality, “McKenzie Exercises” are patient-specific prescribed according to the findings of our exam and may include rotation, side bending, and flexion.

Through the McKenzie Method, we teach our patients how to treat and eventually prevent their own pain! The self-treatment aspect of this method is cost effective and time effective and is proven to help patients manage their pain all over the world.
